Patrons at this restaurant have been coming here for years, and there's a good reason why: Decidedly downscale, there are few restaurants in TO with as much character as Bagel World. This is Jewish dairy at its comforting best: wonderful bagels baked on the premises and sold in the accompanying bakery. Try the old-world vegetable soups and the perennial brunch favorite, an eggs and onions sandwich. This the spot where you can perfect the local art of hollowing out a bagel to fill it with the divine tuna salad. This find is very busy on weekends, so expect a wait. But while you're waiting, you can join the Toronto bagel vs. Montreal bagel debate.

Oh! What a gem this place is! It has been on Wilson Avenue (for all of you downtowners and tourists, "Wilson Avenue" is the exact same street as York Mills, but it's located on the West, rather than on the East of Yonge Street) since even my parents were children. Stop by this place on any given day of the week and you will find Yiddish-speaking bubbies and zadies sipping coffee at 7am and dressed to the nines. Besides the fact that their bagels are some of the best in the city (with that many years of practice, they've obviously done something right), their non-bagel items are also de-lish. Try out their tuna, egg-salad or salmon salad platters for a little Omega 3, 6 and 9 action. Or try to consume their mega greek salads in one sitting . Warning: it's probably too big to even attempt! It's a well-lit restaurant with friendly staff and very clean facilities. That includes the washroom! Price is cheap. You'll leave with a warmed heart and a big smile.
