Personally, I had more problems than I expected. On return of the engine, the points were contaminated with debris and oil. I had to remove the points and clean with laquer thinners. I found a metal chip stuck to the left intake valve right on the seat. Luckily I was able to remove it with a long pair of tweezers. There was a crack or flaw in the cylinder base gasket which I could not stop from leaking oil until I loosened all the base nuts and pulled the cylinder up about 1/4 inch and applied some permatex to the area. The mechanic does not use gasket compound which, in my oppinion on an older British bike is a big mistake !
