In 1983, my fiance (who was a guitar teacher) joined me in teaching and we moved the studio to an office building a couple blocks away. As the music school kept growing, we felt there was a need to expand by adding a retail store to our business. In 1992, we opened our retail store in the same building. We continued to grow and expanded to having ten teachers working for us. We did this until 2000 when due to personal reasons (divorce and my elderly parents needing me to care for them we closed the store portion of the business. I then moved my teaching back to the studio in my parent’s home where I could be close to them.
I am currently carrying on my teaching via online lessons using “Skype”. My husband’s job requires him to move around a lot, so for me it is not realistic to have an in studio music school. I have been successfully teaching online now and it has been a great success. Students love the many advantages to taking their lessons online.
