Description

Proudly serving Halifax and surrounding areas for 22 years with increasingly professional and experienced massage therapy and health and lifestyle counseling services.
We offer a wide range of massages designed to relax tight or sore muscles and tendons, relieve stress or anxiety, and break up scar tissue in the muscles and other connective tissues, so you can move on with your day with greater freedom of movement, less pain and stress, and a much more relaxed mind and body. ***I also offer science-based advice on many areas of health and lifestyle*** (see paragraphs 4 and 5). Some of my massage specialties are: Back massage, Relaxation massage, Foot and head massage (i've been told i give one of the best foot massages in town!!), Deep tissue massage (designed to break up scar tissue from old and new injuries as well as from day-to-day wear and tear), Neck and shoulder areas, Glute (the gluteal area includes 6 major muscles as well as the largest muscle in the human body, but is often neglected because of over-the-top, "Victorian" modesty concerns.) and Upper leg areas, and the "core muscles" which are so important to overall fitness and posture. I am also well-versed in the most effective stretching methods: several decades of Kamikazee Bicycling have forced me to find or figure out what actually WORKS when it comes to keeping muscles flexible and relaxed!! Based upon 35 years of trying my best to keep up with (and put into practice!!) the soundest scientific research in health and lifestyle, i offer Tried and True advice regarding a wide variety of areas related to health and lifestyle. I have a broad-based scientific background, with degrees in biology and geology, as well as many courses in music (i consider music and other forms of artistic expression to be an essential and indispensable part of a well-rounded, healthy lifestyle), psychology, physiology, anatomy and other sciences. This background enables me to separate out information and research which is several cuts above the "flavor of the month" approach to health and lifestyle which is so prevalent in the Mass Media these daze. This advice is free when combined with massage. In the health and lifestyle field, some of my best areas of knowledge and competence are: Relaxation techniques, General health, diet and lifestyle advice, Natural aids for a variety of health concerns (NOT including cancer, bubonic plague, ebola, Hemorragic Fever or other Major Nasties, i should make clear....), long-term weight loss principles, and how to get and STAY fit and healthy overall. I take a wholistic, "NEWSTART" approach to health and happiness: Nutrition, Exercise, Water (most people are still under-hydrated in our society, with results ranging from anxiety and low energy levels to poor sleep quality), Sunshine, Temperance (as in avoiding excesses in ALL areas of life), Air (as in air quality and fresh air in natural settings), Rest and relaxation, and Trust - but everything i advise folks to try or do, is based on solidly scientific principles. The two principles which guide me in my life and work are "First do no harm." and "Always do your best... and always seek ways to IMPROVE your best." Give me a call today at (902) 876-2241, to learn more about our services and to book an appointment.

Certifications and associations

In addition to 22 years of experience (past 2.5 years full time), i have 1200 hours of formal massage training: the first year of a 2 year RMT course. I am currently saving up to get the second year under my belt, so i can become an RMT at last!
